2008 Happy New Year

Hi all, long time no post. Been real busy. 2007 was a great year for rocketry, I obtained my L2 and had a lot of firsts. 2008 should be much better, I have a lot more HP Rockets and am trying a few new things for me. HP cluster, HP two stage, along with air starts. Cant wait to see what all of you do this year.

Now that im back to work if finding how far behind I am. I have no time for rockets right now. I had to go to a OSHA Fall protection class right off the bat. Im hoping to start my 38 special soon but as of know no time.

Sad day here.

Today is my last day of leave, tomorrow I have to go back to work. That month I got off after getting back from Iraq sure has gone fast. Back to the bump and grind of work.

on my first L-2 attempt, the launch way beautiful (Photo on Tim Sapp's site captioned "Red Glare" Skyshots. I used an AT J-420 redline with motor ejection. The rocket left the pad VERY fast and bout 2 seconds after the thrust had quit - somebody heard the ejection charge and yelled "chutes out" - - The rocket was already out of sight and I was supposed to have about a 10 second delay before ejection. I had a tracker shackled to the nose cone - we found it about 3/4 mile away attached to a foot of body tube. Dan Stroud found the parachute (intact) attached to another piece of the body. It took about 2 hour of searching. before we found the Acme fin can undamaged with the motor casing inside in good shape (it was borrowed so I was sweating that) I rebuilt the rocket stretching it and added an ebay for dual deploy. Covered the tubes with 2 layers of 6 oz glass. The next attempt was successful.

It makes me look small because it is 11 1/2 feet tall. Even at my great height, it is hard to compete with that.
