National Association of Rocketry, Tripoli Rocketry Association
About Me:
Third time addiction to the hobby--so I call myself a re-BAR. Flew as a kid and then during graduate school where I set up a program for disadvantaged youth, and helped found WARP out in Utah, which later seeded whats now UROC.
I am an alphabet flyer, and have dabbled in EX. My main current projects are a near 1/2 scale Nike-BB I hope to fly at LDRS, and a rocket for the Mach Madness competition, where with the help of fellow moderator and buddy, Steve Shannon, want to at least get hot enough to blister some paint!
My Interests:
Apart from high-end high end stereo, good movies, and books, my passions (rocketry, golf, baseball) all seem to share the objective of hitting a target with a projectile--sort of like projecting ones will from a distance. Not sure what to make of that.....
Things I'd Like To Do:
Fly a rocket high enough to clearly capture the curvature of the earth. Write a good novel, travel a lot more, shoot 69 (on 18 holes), and make it to the REMAX long drive regionals. Besides that, grow old not so gracefully and see my 2 daughters find happiness in careers and all else.
People I'd Like To Meet:
Fritjof Capra, the Dali Lama, Ursula LeGuinn, Tiger Woods, too many others to name
I Can Provide Expertise On:
Psychiatric/mental health issues/college physics (volunteer at the physics forum)
Favorite Rockets:
Nike-Black Brant, Korey Kline's Hyperion (for dumbfounding all the Wallops Island gurus with its quick turn around time), Honest John, Go Fast (for doing the "impossible"), and the Soviet boosters for just being so cool looking.
Favorite Music:
Very eclectic tastes. Just make it guitar and/or sax with a good female vocalist, and played back thru a high-rez system.
Favorite TV Shows:
Hmmm. Out of touch with network TV. I like the Law and Order reruns if I need to watch a series, otherwise its film for me. Mythbusters is fun and even educational at times along with Sport Science. Among my various pursuits in grad school was bioengineering--I enjoy seeing physics applied to sport. In fact I like physics period. Wish I had majored in it.
Good morning,
You bet I will. But you will have to riddle me how to do that. I'm sitting here with a sheepish grin not knowing what to do next. The planes are a hoot though. I should post some pictures of the fractured wings. Couple of them had their wings break (avenger & Hellcat) during launch phase. I think I have a redesign in place. But back to my point, if you could direct me how to join the conversation I sure will.
