Profile Information

I Belong To:
Tripoli Rocketry Association
About Me:
I am 44, and I have been flying rockets since I was 5 years old. I do mostly high power rockets now a days, and I am currently certified L2. I have a couple of L3 designs that I am considering, but that will not happen until the budget allows.

Other than that, I am a moderator on Rocketrylanet.com. I am also an editor on Thrustcurve.org.

Professionally, I am a network administrator of a large Windows network.
My Interests:
Well, besides rocketry I have a list.

The next longest interest of mine next to rockets in playing music. I am primarily a bassist who plays 6 string fretted and frettless basses. I mostly play progressive rock and some metal, but have dabbled in jazz, classical, straight rock, and have even played a country tune or two.

The next thing I am into is weightlifting. Mostly I just work out now, but I used to like powerlifting.

In addition, I enjoy aquariums, home theaters, computers, shooting, and my family...not neccesarily in that order.
Things I'd Like To Do:
Well, I would like to get my L3. It will happen just a matter of when. I will record a cd of original music...just a matter of when. I would like to fly rockets at Black Rock.
People I'd Like To Meet:
Richard Marcinko, Geddy Lee, Terry Goodkind, Frank Zappa, J. Michael Stracynski, Werner Von Braun
I Can Provide Expertise On:
PC based computers, rockets, home theaters, aquariums, shooting, politics, weight training, and music
Favorite Rockets:
Well, my favorite rocket was one I lost last year. It was a scratch built, 38mm minimum diameter, dual deploy rocket. I was designing it while watching a show on Robert Oppenheimer, and it hence was named Destroyer of Worlds. I never really used the name at a launch as I thought it was a bit over the top, and that someone might find it a bit egotistical...it was not intended to be. A rocket that weighed about 2.6 pounds with an I300 in it.
Favorite Music:
Rush, Savatage, Circle to Circle, Circus Maximus, Marillion, Beethoven, Stanley Clarke, Dream Theater, Spinal Tap, Frank Zappa, Journey.
Favorite TV Shows:
Babylon 5;Star Trek of any variety; most things on the History Channel, Discovery, or the Military Chanel; Eureka; The new Battlestar Galactica.

NO REALITY TV...PLEASE!

It is good to fly rockets again

Hello,

today I flew my first rockets since the fall of 2006. I have really had the need to fly rockets and today was perfect for it. Sunny, very little wind, a few bucks, and a little free time.

First up was was heavily modified Loc Vulcanite named the Swamp Seeker (more on the name later). It has been extended, glassed, and made dual deploy. It has seen a lot of flights ranging from the H123 up to the J420. Today, I decided to try the new Aerotech I245G. I figured it… Continue

Dual Deploy Vulcanite explanation for Peter Waithe

Hi Peter, as I said I would I have snapped a few pictures of my dual deployment vulcanite. It has been glassed, and it was my first attempt at it so forgive the crudeness of it. It has been rather extensively modified, and here we go.

The booster section first. The first thing is that this rocket uses a traditional anti-zipper design so it has a coupler on the top of the booster, which is modular so any component is replaceable. It attaches through the wall with 3 10-32 screws, which…
