Thanks for the pointer! I will do this :)

So normal isopropyl alchohol will work?

Ok using flux is alright but not the best thing to use on circuit boards. It is a mild acid that over time will eat away at the solder joint. To remove flux, use an acid brush(trim back some hair) and alcohol and scrub it clean, try not to break the parts

Weathers horrible right now lol.

They tend to fall off the edge of the world, somewhere near australia :D

Darell will probably say the door prizes couldn't be shipped outside of the USA......there's fine print around somewhere! No one seems to have gotten any door prizes, or at least no one's commenting on it. Maybe they're still on the ISS.

Hi Darrell,

I have never met any of them lol.

Im new to the rocketry scene (about 1 year new) and all the launches to date have been cancelled due to our shocking winter weather!

Theres one coming up in october which I hope to attend and meet some people :)

Also, I don't actually own any rockets. I have in the past (an HV Arcas which I flew with an 'F' motor).
I got back into the scene on the electornics side of things, though my wife WANTS me to build a rocket lol...weird...she must want something...:P

I saw you created a New Zealand rocketry group! That's great! Now we just have to get some NZ rocketeers on here. Do you fly with the people from NZHPR?

Alec, welcome to the site! We hope you invite all of your friends to try it out.

Alec, welcome to Our Planet! Hopefully we can get more rocketeers from down under to participate as well.

I'm alive!

"Alec, how are you coming on the firmware?

Soldering is a weird thing. I had tdo some for the first time in abot a
year, and it was great. Granted, it was not surface mount (thank God). "

(Hope Mark doesn't mind me snipping his comment :P)

Figured id use this opportunity to update everyone on the progress of my altimeter :)

I have had quite a bit of time away from it recently with 99% of my spare time put towards studying for a calculus

Progress - Finally!

Hi All,

Well I have FINALLY put this thing together, the hardware works perfectly first time! :)

And here is how it turned out...

Excuse the messy looking board. There is a bit of fluff stuck to the solder flux :P (And its my first SMT board too!)

It was suprisingly easy to do the 0603 resistors!
Heres a short self-video :) Sorry about the huge size!
I swear the lighting is better than it looks :P

Progress -Kinda

Hi All,

I've recently had enquirys asking when Ill be done with my altimeter so I thought I'd post an update :)
Things are progressing, albeit alowly. Uni studies have been somewhat overwhelming recently.

Tommorrow I will finally start to solder all the bits on to the prototype. Should be fun getting those tiny 0603 resistors on the board! *Groan*

I am developing the software in the background, and it looks as though the first release of the firmware will implement… Continue

Preliminary datasheet :)

Hi All,

Well I had a bit of spare time at work so I thought id whip up a quick datasheet to let you know the features my little device will include.

Heres a link to my original post.

The latest on the Atea project

Hi All,

Some of you might of heard of a company here in NZ called Rocketlab who are developing a 2 stage sub-orbital rocket www.rocketlab.co.nz

In a thread on TRF a few of us started sketching up a scale model of it...as best we could anyway! http://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?t=38491

Long story short, Aaron (heada) has decided to build one designed arou… Continue
