About Me:
I guess I'm a BAR, reborn into HPR. I did Estes stuff (and still do) when I was young through high school, but lost interest after going to college at Virginia Tech. After getting my first job in Fort Walton Beach, FL I got back into it after I saw a few launches in Alabama. I did my L1 cert with SEARS in southern Alabama and did my L2 in Dayton, OH. Now I'm in San Antonio, TX and fly with the Austin Area Rocket Group and mingle with the San Antonio Rocketry Association. My wife Stephanie comes to my launches and actually enjoys them. She's a great camera-woman.
I Can Provide Expertise On:
Electronic Bays for small rockets (2" to 3") and dual deployment
It is a small planet! Congrats on L2 and I remember L1 and the famous photo on your profile. Good luck on your TX move. Maybe you will meet Art Applewhite down there..
Hi Bryan
Do you have any pics or info on your electronics bays? I have a 38 mm min diameter that I'm building the ebay for, but I'm always interested in different ideas. I'll be posting some pics of my 38 and it ebay soon.
I fly with POTROCS at Wayside, TX (Amarillo club) and a lot of people from San Antonio come up to launch. Potrocs can get call in waivers to 50,000 ft!

I'm using a Perfectflite HiAlt 45. I made a sled for my altimeter out of G-10 and built a battery box out of G-10 to hold the 9 volt battery perpendicular to the sled and epoxied the box into a cut-out in the sled. he battery box sticks half-way through the sled and won't allow the battery to move-except for a catastropic event that would destroy the G-10. I was going to use small all-thread running down both sides of the sled like I normally do, but didn't like the lidea of it running so close to the edge of the end caps. I'm going to use end caps fastened into the ebay with set screws and let the end caps take the brunt of deployment instead of the all-thread. I just hope it all stays together. The end caps are going to have to be built strong. Pictures will be coming - still working on the caps.
I hope this isn't clear as mud - the pictures should explain it better.

Bryan, Your welcome to come fly with us at POTROCS. Check the web sight at www.potrocs.org for launch schedule. 25,000 ft waiver with 50,000 ft from 2PM to 4PM. Several people from the San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, and Austin area are members of our club.
San Antonio has a couple of clubs - SARS which is a TRA club and Alamo Rocketeers (NAR). There is also the Dallas Area Rocketry Club TRA/NAR, Austin Area Rocketry Group TRA/NAR, West Texas Rocketry TRA/NAR in the Midland - Odessa area, Houston has the NASA/ Houston Rocket club.
Ray Kinsel from the San Antonio area (get to know him), comes to the POTROCS launches at Wayside. A lot of people fly research motors at our club and Pat Gordzelik is an outstanding motor guru who does some very impressive motors using "Polish Rojo" and "Wayside White" formulas.

Bryan, Our club http://www.potrocs.org/ will be hosting the Cansats competition one of the days at our launch being held June 13 -15. Have you move to Texas yet? Also - Are you going to LDRS in Argonia, KS this year?
Bryan, your welcome to come fly with POTROCS. Check our launch schedule on the club web site potrocs.org over in the links section. We cut back on the number of launches that are held here which works out to having a bigger turnout. There are some new photos and videos in the media section.
There are links to some of the Texas rocketry clubs in the links section as well. Hook up with the club in San Antonio and you'll meet some nice and experienced rocketeers. (Ray Kinsel of LaVenia) If you look at our list of club members, you'll see that there are a lot of people who come from all over to fly here. There are several people in the San Antonio, Austin, Midland, and Houston areas who have flown some really nice rockets here. The research launches and high altitude waiver of 50,000 ft. are the draw. We had a propellant safety class the day before the CANSAT National launch.
Email me off the planet at shotoneup@yahoo.com and I'll fill you with more info about flying here.
